Biography

Dr Georgia Hunt is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over twenty years of experience in mental health and family therapy. Georgia has knowledge and skills in the areas of alcohol and other drugs, anxiety, depression, suicidality, eating issues and gender identity. She also provides services to people affected by domestic and family violence and childhood institutional abuse.

Georgia acknowledges that people are the experts in their own lives and are often resilient in the face of challenges. She is interested in growing individual and family resilience by providing psycho-education and support in a non-judgemental, safe space.

Trained in the Schwartz Centre Compassionate Care in Health Care, Georgia delivers Schwartz Rounds to health staff aimed at growing self-compassion, preventing burnout, growing compassion in healthcare and improving organisational culture. Georgia also provides clinical supervision for mental health clinicians and the mental health lived experience workforce.

Interested in research, Georgia has completed a PhD on consumer and family participation in public mental health services and she is published in peer review journals. She is an Adjunct Senior Clinical Research Fellow in the School of Human Services and Social Work, Griffith University.
