Biography

Prof Lu graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1998 before moving to Queensland to complete his general surgical training. After obtaining his Fellowship in General Surgery (FRACS) in 2007, he undertook laboratory research into colorectal cancer at James Cook University in North Queensland. In 2009, he completed two years of post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery under the guidance of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), of which he remains a member.

Prof Lu has a strong interest in colorectal cancer research and has completed a master’s degree by research. He is actively involved in clinical and laboratory research in collaboration with Griffith University and contributes to the training of junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students on the Gold Coast.

Prof Lu is experienced in colorectal surgery and offers a comprehensive range of colorectal procedures, including laparoscopic colectomy, laparoscopic rectopexy, complex anal fistula surgery, and open-access and therapeutic colonoscopy. He welcomes referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient management and admissions at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast.
