Dr Shantisagar Vaidya

Cardiology

Clinical Interests

General and interventional cardiology

Biography

Dr Shanti Vaidya is a cardiologist with more than 25 years’ experience in the field.

He completed a three-year Interventional Fellowship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, gaining expertise in complex coronary interventions, rotational atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography.

Dr Vaidya is skilled in performing coronary procedures through both radial and femoral arteries and is experienced in both acute and elective coronary interventions. He is one of few Interventional Cardiologists in Australia, and the only one in Mackay, who performs these procedures with the distal radial artery approach, minimising the risk of bleeding, vascular complications, and recovery time.

Before relocating to Australia in 2011, Dr Vaidya worked as a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist overseas for eight years. In addition to interventions, his primary interests include the diagnosis and management of coronary heart disease, hypertension, and heart failure.

He also offers a range of cardiology services, including electrocardiogram, exercise stress test, transthoracic echocardiogram, exercise stress echocardiogram, Holter monitoring, seven-day event monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Dr Vaidya works privately at Mater Private Hospital Mackay and Mater Private Hospital Townsville and has a public appointment at Mackay Base Hospital as a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist.
