Biography
Dr Shivanthi Kandiah is an experienced endocrine and general surgeon who consults and operates at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland.
Dr Kandiah completed her undergraduate medical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS
Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom.
Undertaking her general surgical training in Queensland, Dr Kandiah subsequently completed her fellowship in head and neck endocrine surgery at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.
Dr Kandiah returned to the United Kingdom to further subspecialise, completing her thyroid and parathyroid fellowship for the Royal College of Surgeons of England at Royal Berkshire
Hospital.
Following this, she remained in the UK as an emergency general surgery consultant at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds until 2021.
Since returning to Queensland, Dr Kandiah was appointed Staff Specialist in general and endocrine surgery at Metro South Health and is a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland.
Dr Kandiah is proud to deliver holistic patient-centred care at Mater private and public hospitals across South East Queensland.
