Biography

Dr Aalia Thasneem Saleem is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician consulting at Mater Health Hub, Springfield. She is a Visiting Medical Officer at Mater Private Hospital Springfield.

She completed her specialist training in Respiratory & Sleep Medicine at John Hunter, Westmead and Royal North Shore Hospitals in New South Wales and was awarded FRACP in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. She worked as a locum Staff Specialist for a year in the busy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and now works as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at the Ipswich General Hospital.

She is a member of Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian Sleep Association, the American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society. She regularly attends local as well as international meetings and conferences to keep herself up to date in the field of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. She has active interest in clinical research and has undertaken research projects in the areas of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Obstructive sleep apnoea. She is also quite involved with medical education and holds the position of a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
