Established in 1996, Mercy Food Service provides meals to Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton, Mater Private Hospital Mackay and Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg.
Mercy Food Service is a state-of-the art Cook Chill Facility located in Campbell Street Rockhampton. It is one of the best equipped kitchens in Central Queensland with a fully integrated mobile logistics arm.
Mercy Food Service provides a diverse, nutritionally balanced Menu which has been prepared in consultation with a specialist dietitian. The menu is extensive catering for both patients in our Hospitals and residents in our aged care facilities. The meals are tasty, nutritious and visually appealing.
Mercy Food Service has a perfect Food Safety record with certifiable quality and food safety systems in place. All food is prepared according to HACCP Principles and our Food Safety Plan Monitoring and Documentation is a fundamental part of how we deliver safe, quality food to those we are privileged to serve.
The food service operates using a “cook chill” process which is a method of food preparation, providing extended shelf life for food without any of the deterioration common with reheated frozen foods.
Food is cooked to perfection in the traditional way and then quickly cooled to below three degrees centigrade in specially designed blast chillers within 90 minutes until warmed for eating, with no discernible effect on taste, nutrition or texture. This vastly improves food shelf life without any discernible impact on the eating quality.
Meals are then delivered to each of our facilities where the food is maintained at the correct temperature until plated and delivered to the patient or resident.
