Biography

Dr Andrew Stillwell is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in sports surgery and arthroplasty of the knee and shoulder. He was born and raised in Charters Towers, completing his secondary education at Blackheath and Thornburgh College. Andrew completed his medical degree at James Cook University, graduating with Honours in 2010. Andrew worked at the Townsville Hospital and as a junior doctor before being accepted onto the orthopaedic training scheme in Queensland. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018 and is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Stillwell has undertaken post fellowship training in sports surgery and arthroplasty of the knee and shoulder under the supervision of Dr Peter Myers, Dr Timothy McMeniman, Dr Tony O’Neill and Dr Brett Collins at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre. Throughout his medical career Dr Stillwell has maintained a keen interest in research publishing his findings in various international journals and presenting at local and national meetings.

He is currently working as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Mater Hospital and works as a Staff Specialist at The Townsville Hospital. 

Andrew, his wife and three children, especially enjoy camping and fishing.
