Biography

Dr Matthew Hope is a highly qualified and skilled specialist surgeon in adult and paediatric orthopaedic surgery, specialising in foot and ankle surgery.

Having completed his medical degree in Edinburgh, he then became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Whilst living in the UK he also completed a research thesis and was awarded an MD with Honours.

In 2006, Dr Hope travelled to Brisbane where he completed a 12 month foot and ankle surgery Fellowship.

In 2010, Dr Hope moved to Australia where he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

In 2012, Dr Hope completed his training as an Independent Medical Examiner and has been providing expert medical opinion nationally since.

Dr Hope conducts public work at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital, South Brisbane, where he is also Deputy Director of Trauma. He operates privately at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

Dr Hope is Chair of the Queensland RACS Trauma Committee and sits on the National RACS Trauma Committee. He is also a member of the Queensland Health Surgical Advisory Committee.

Dr Hope continues to be active in ongoing research into orthopaedic trauma and foot and ankle Surgery.
