Biography

Dr Naven Chetty is a gynaecological oncologist and gynaecologist practising at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Springfield. 

Dr Chetty completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Ireland and is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 

He has completed fellowships in Gynaecological Oncology and Laparoscopic Gynaecology.  

As a result, he has an interest in treating women with pre-invasive gynaecological pathology and gynaecological malignancies as well as benign gynaecological pathology. He aims to use minimally invasive surgery techniques wherever possible. 

Dr Chetty completed his internship and residency in Canberra and Newcastle before going on to do his obstetrics and gynaecology training at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney. 

This was followed by a two-year fellowship in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women, both in Sydney. 

His gynaecological oncology training comprised a year at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney followed by two years at the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer (QCGC), working at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s and Mater hospitals at South Brisbane. 

Dr Chetty is a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland and is involved in student teaching and research via QCGC and Mater Research.
