What you need to know
We are committed to offering accessible car parking facilities at all of our hospitals for the convenience of patients and visitors.
Mater owns and operates three multi-storey car parks on the South Brisbane campus—Hancock Street Car Park, Mater Hill Car Park and Mater Medical Centre Car Park. All proceeds support patient care at Mater. These car parks are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Patient dedicated parking is available in Mater Hill West Car Park which provides connection to major clinical facilities on site as well as access to a customer service booth and a volunteer support desk. Car and motorbike access to Mater Hill West is via Stanley Water Streets.
View our car park locations and costs for further details.
Drop off zones at hospital entrances
There are several areas on campus where patients and visitors can be dropped off. These zones are located outside each hospital and emergency department and are subject to the following restrictions:
- disabled parking is allowed for a maximum of 10 minutes
- drop-off and pick up is allowed for a maximum of two minutes.
Limited short-term parking is located in front of the Salmon Building on Stanley Street. Parking in drop-off zones is subject to availability and all users are obliged to follow hospital and traffic policies, as well as directions given by Mater Security Officers.
For those using prams, patients and visitors in wheelchairs or people who require assistance with mobility, we recommend using the Mater Hill Car Park for convenient accessibility to all hospitals. All of Mater's multi-storey car parks have clearly marked designated disabled parking bays, conveniently located near the lifts and walkways.
In addition to Mater Hill Car Park, there are several disabled car parking bays located on Stanley Street in front of the Salmon Building.

Mater Private Hospital Redland
Parking is free for Mater Private Hospital Redland patients, with a car park located opposite the hospital reception and next to the main hospital building. There is also on-street parking available on Weippin Street which runs adjacent to the hospital campus.
It is recommended that if you are getting dropped off at hospital, your support person brings you to the front entrance and then parks at the front entrance for a short time while you are brought to the front foyer.
For your convenience, drop-off and pick-up areas are located at the entrance of the hospital on Weippin Street.
Mater Private Hospital Springfield
Mater Private Hospital Springfield has an open air car park adjacent to the hospital with drop off zones located at the hospital’s main entrance and the entrance to the cancer care centre. Drop off and pick up is allowed in these designated zones for a maximum of five minutes.
All patients and visitors using the hospital car park are required to pay before exiting at pay stations situated in the car parks. You are able to pay using cash, Visa or Mastercard.
In keeping with our Mission, philosophy and values, we have made a number of provisions to meet the needs of our patients and their families/carers in need. Patients wishing to be considered for a concessional parking rate should contact a social worker in the hospital in which they are being cared for. Car park attendants cannot provide concessional parking.
Motorcycle riders may park their bikes in the multi-storey car parks in the designated motorcycle bays but will need to have this validated at a booth. Parking is not available outside of 7 am to 8.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 8.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday (excluding public holidays).
Should anyone have an un-readable ticket at a paystation or exit gate please press the intercom at the paystation for assistance.
