Mater is embarking on its new strategic journey with the launch of our Group Strategy – Towards 2030, which sets a clear, united direction for how we will continue to support communities across Queensland. To begin this work, General Managers and leaders from across Mater will come together in South Brisbane for a two‑day workshop to shape local plans for facilities and services aligned with our shared strategic goals.

Over the coming weeks, Group Chief Executive Julia Strickland-Bellamy will embark on a roadshow, visiting all Mater sites and subsidiaries across Queensland to introduce the strategy and explore what it means for our people, services and communities. Julia is encouraging all Mater People to join her at the local forums to learn more about the strategy, ask questions and share in a morning tea following the presentation.

Mission led care, people first, one Mater together

Our Mission drives compassionate care. Across hospitals, research, education and philanthropy, we turn discovery into impact and support whole person wellbeing—spiritual, emotional, social and physical—for every person and community we serve.

We bring God's mercy to our communities through compassionate, transforming, healing care. Since it was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1906, Mater has been guided by this clear and unwavering Mission.

Empowering people to live better lives through improved health and wellbeing. Mater believes every individual has the right to access world-class healthcare services, and is committed to supporting good health spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically.

We honour and promote the dignity of human life and of all creation. We act with compassion and integrity. We strive for excellence.

Honouring our heritage, renewing for the future

Guided by the Sisters of Mercy, we are renewing—modernising services, strengthening across Queensland, and integrating research, education and philanthropy to serve communities wisely, sustainably and compassionately in a changing environment.

Advancing a connected, high performance healthcare future

Mater is building a stronger, connected health system powered by people, partnerships and reinvestment. We prioritise outcomes, experience and personalised care to meet rising expectations across communities today and tomorrow.

Three connected circles guiding better care, together

Our three circles connect strategy to delivery: move the Mission, magnify impact, modernise the model. With people, technology and partnerships, we make care easier to access and closer to home.

Extending compassion where it's needed most.

Reaching more people and enhancing our brand by innovating and building stronger connections.

Building the hospitals of tomorrow, today.

A five-year plan built to last

Our staged plan fixes foundations, builds growth and explores new opportunities. With clear enablers—stewardship, culture, data and partnerships—we will deliver sustainable change and keep Mater united, focused and ready tomorrow.
