My Mater Midwife

The My Mater Midwife program is one of the many models of care available to you at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane.  

As part of this program, a Mater midwife will support families throughout their journey in partnership with you as the chosen obstetrician. The Mater midwife will care for your families across the continuum of pregnancy, your labour, birth, and during the early weeks after birth.  

Your Mater midwife will care for you, answer your calls and questions in partnership with your obstetrician, and provide you with support every step of the way.  

Program cost 

The My Mater Midwife program ranges from $990 to $1,190 in price (in addition to the cost of engaging an obstetrician).  

  • The $990 package covers the cost for your family to have a Mater Midwife and Mater Mothers' Bundle of Joy card (priced at $290). 
  • The $1,190 package, covers the cost for your family to have a Mater Midwife and the  Mater Mothers' Bundle of Joy Premium card (priced at $490).

Clinical Midwife Consultant - Consumer Navigation

The Consumer Midwife Consultant (CMC) works collaboratively with consumers and obstetricians to navigate high-risk patients across the continuum to ensure they are receiving the right service at the right time. By working across multiple specialties, it aims to reduce service fragmentation and improve access for consumers throughout health services for Mater Mothers’ patients.

Clinical Midwife Specialist Service

The Clinical Midwife Specialist Service is a group of registered clinical midwives who provide expert clinical leadership, knowledge and management of high-risk pregnancies and associated risks. 

The clinical midwifery specialists work across the inpatient clinical units ensuring the continuum of care is maintained and have a specific focus on managing the care and providing support to junior staff for high-risk patients.  

The clinical midwife specialists:

  • Attends MET calls - leading the team during critical events or emergencies including actions and communication during and after event
  • Round on high-risk patients 
  • Provide clinical guidance to junior staff

Bundle of Joy

Having a baby is an exciting time, but we also know it can be expensive. The Bundle of Joy program provides price certainty and value for money by bundling together Mater services and additional costs associated with giving birth.

About the program

When you choose to have your baby at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane, you can enjoy access to a range of Mater services at a discounted rate by purchasing a Bundle of Joy Premium or Bundle of Joy card.   

Both of these cards offer unique benefits and value for money to women giving birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane by bundling together some of the additional costs associated with having a baby. This helps to alleviate some out-of-pocket costs associated with giving birth that are not necessarily covered by private health insurance or Medicare.

Patient Travel Accommodation

Patient travel accommodation can assist antenatal outpatients who require the assistance of the Qld Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme. Please advise families they will need to contact their local hospital directly to complete and lodge forms or register online https://www.qld.gov.au/health/services/travel/subsidies
