Pregnancy Assessment Centre and Outpatient NCCU Parents 

In hours – NON URGENT (Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4.30pm)

Catherine's House for Mothers, Babies and Families 

Catherine’s House for Mothers, Babies and Families is Queensland’s first integrated perinatal mental health centre. 

It has been co-designed by parents with lived experience and a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to deliver specialised care to parents experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges in the first year of their baby’s arrival. 

Located alongside Mater Mothers’ Hospital at South Brisbane, Catherine’s House has been built with community donations to Mater Foundation and is a dedicated space for healing, recovery, and connection.

In-patient Unit 

In-patient Unit with 10 rooms where parents and primary carers can stay with their babies while receiving treatment and care. 

Eligibility criteria:  

  • postpartum psychosis or  
  • relapse of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder in the postpartum or  
  • severe anxiety and/or depressive disorder or  
  • complex mental health problems that may include a history of trauma, personality disorder and substance misuse that is impacting their parenting. 

Day Programs 

Catherine’s House for Mothers, Babies and Families provides a broad spectrum of parenting and emotional wellbeing programs for people* with perinatal mental health concerns. All programs are evidence-based and are delivered by an experienced team of mental health professionals.

  • Early Parenting and Emotional Wellbeing

How to refer  

Please email Catherine’s House   

  • The referrer will be notified within two working days that their referral has been received and is being assessed.  
  • Referrals will be triaged after parents/primary carers have completed a thorough initial assessment by the intake team.  
  • If not accepted for admission the intake team will advise the referrer who will maintain clinical responsibility for the consumer.

Some services at Catherine’s House will incur a cost, please recommend that your patient to contact Catherine’s House on 07 3163 2299 for individual estimates on cost.
