Dr Manzoor Abbas

Biography

Dr Manzoor Abbas is a General Surgeon and Gastrointestinal Endoscopist with a particular interest in laparoscopic and open gastrointestinal, hernia, gallbladder and vascular surgery.

Dr Abbas successfully completed five years of advanced surgical training in general surgery and before being awarded Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He has held many academic posts including Associate Professor at Bond University. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and a regular tutor of junior doctors and medical students.

Dr Abbas has a strong interest in research and has published over 20 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, as well as book chapters. He has trained and worked in hospitals around the world, including the United States, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Australia. Before relocating to Australia, he was a qualified General and Vascular Surgeon in India and worked as an International Research Associate at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.

On arriving in Australia, Dr Abbas worked and trained extensively in general and vascular surgery before being selected for advanced training in general surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
