Biography

Dr Kemal Akbiyik is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who visits Rockhampton once a month for the Maxillofacial and Implant Centre Central Queensland. He completed his dental qualifications at the University of Queensland in 1993 and his medical qualifications at the University of Newcastle in 2006. 

He was a registrar in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for four years (2002-2005), then spent three-and-a-half years (2007-2010) as an advanced surgical trainee at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. 

Dr Akbiyik obtained his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2010. He has a special interest in trauma, reconstructive surgery and bone grafting/implantology.
