There is a café located on Level 5 of Mater Mothers that caters to patients, visitors and staff. It provides a wide range of snacks, meals and hot and cold beverages.
Chapel
You can find the Chapel on level 5 of Mater Mothers' Hospital near the lifts, offering a quiet space for personal reflection at any time. Alternatively, a Chapel and Multifaith Sacred Space can be found on level 3 of Salmon Building.
Additionally, Mater's Pastoral Care Practitioners are available to provide emotional and spiritual support by calling extension #6729 from the beside phone.
Patients, visitors and staff are welcome to join mass held Tuesday from 11am.
Electronic devices
My Mater Bedside is available in all patient rooms and offers educational resources, TV and streaming services as well as access to national newspapers.
Patients are encouraged to bring their own personal electronic devices to hospital, whether that’s a mobile phone, tablet or laptop.
From any Wi-Fi enabled device, patients and their family can access a free Wi-Fi service while they are at hospital.

Ready-made arrangements and small gifts are available for purchase from the cafe on Level 5 of Mater Mothers.

Interpreter Service
Effective communication between patients and staff is important. Interpreters are essential in ensuring that your diagnosis and treatment are explained to you in your preferred language and that you understand the information you have been given.
Mater provides experienced interpreters 24 hours a day, seven days a week in every language and offers this service free of charge to every clinic. Interpreters can be provided onsite, via telephone or via video remotely.

Pharmaceutical care is provided by Mater pharmacists, who specialise in a range of disciplines including women’s health, oncology and haematology, neonatal critical care, adult critical care, and more.
Mater Pharmacy offers script and dispensary services, as well as a wide range of gifts. For hospital inpatients, the pharmacy has an electronic ordering system so required medicines can be dispensed by our pharmacists and delivered to your hospital room.
To ensure your medications are managed safely while in hospital, a Mater Pharmacist is available to review medications that you have been taking at home. Please ensure that you have all your medications with you in their original containers and any current prescriptions. Or, if you take many regular medications, please request a medication list from your local pharmacy and bring this too.
During your stay your specialist doctor may ask you to stop taking your regular medications or prescribe additional medication as part of your treatment plan. For this reason, medications that have been put into a dosette box or Webster pack cannot be used while you are in hospital. New supplies are required to ensure your safety.
