Pharmacy

Medications for inpatients of Mater Private Hospital Mackay are supplied by our on-site pharmacy. The hospital’s pharmacy service provider has two locations—one on level 1 of Mater Private Hospital Mackay, and the second located across the road from the hospital. They provide prescription dispensing and supply of other medicines.

To ensure your medications are managed safely while in hospital, a Mater pharmacist is available to review medications that you have been taking at home. Please ensure that you have all your medications with you in their original containers and any current prescriptions. Or, if you take many regular medications, please request a medication list from your local pharmacy and bring this too.

During your stay your specialist doctor may ask you to stop taking your regular medications or prescribe additional medication as part of your treatment plan. For this reason, medications that have been put into a dosette box or Webster pack cannot be used while you are in hospital. New supplies are required to ensure your safety.

The pharmacist will dispense new medications prescribed to you during your stay, and ensure you are supplied with the required medications on discharge. Charges for medications dispensed during your admission and on discharge that are not covered by your health fund will be billed to you and are payable on discharge from the hospital.

Queensland X-Ray

Complementing the hospital’s facilities is Queensland X-Ray offering a range of services including X-Rays, OPG, Fluoroscopy, CAT Scans, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Echocardiography and Ultrasound examinations.

Students

Mater Private Hospital Mackay is a teaching facility and doctors and nurses in training could be present. Your doctor/nurse will introduce any students to you. Please let us know if you would prefer not to have students present in your care. Asking to be seen alone will not affect your care.
