Mater is pleased to advise the Fair Work Commission has approved Mater Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2026.  The agreement becomes effective on 12 March 2026.

Mater's new three year Agreement for Medical Officers includes

Wage rises of 3%, 2.5% and 2.5% over three years to support ongoing wage growth and stability.

An increase in night shift allowance to 20% from 15%.

Backpay to 1 July 2025 for all Medical Officers, including currently employed Registered Medical Officers

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the new agreement take effect?

The Agreement has been formally approved by the Fair Work Commission.  As per the Fair Work Act, the new agreement will formally commence seven days from approval, therefore, the effective date of commencement will be Thursday 12 March 2026.

When will I receive my back pay and from what date is it calculated?

Back pay will be calculated from 30 June 2025 and will be included in your pay on 26 March 2026.

I am an RMO that finished my rotation in January and February 2026, am I still eligible for back pay?

Yes, if you are a Registered Medical Officer who concluded your rotation with Mater in January or February 2026 you are entitled to back-pay.  You will receive back pay into your nominated back account on 26 March 2026.  If you have changed your bank account details since concluding with Mater please contact the HR Helpdesk on 07 3163 8511

When will I see an increase in my allowances?

Increases to allowances including the increase to night shift allowance will be effective from 12 March 2026.

Is the SMO Car Allowance increasing?

Yes, although car allowance for Senior Medical Officers sits outside the Enterprise Agreement, Mater has committed to increasing car allowance.  Increases will be reflected in an update to the Senior Medical Officer car allowance procedure and increase in allowance will become effective on 12 March 2026.
