More than $2.8 million worth of community support has been channelled into Mater Private Hospital Redland over the past two financial years, in a massive boost for patients seeking quality, compassionate healthcare in the bayside.
The facility has been a major beneficiary of the Mater Foundation’s incredibly generous supporters, with nearly $1.3 million of those funds going towards the expansion of its surgical and procedural suites, which were officially opened earlier this month.
The project involved a new endoscopy suite, including two new operating theatres, equipped with the latest endoscopic equipment.
Mater Private Hospital Redland General Manager Chris Junge said the investment has gone a long way towards establishing the precinct as the endoscopic hospital of choice in the bayside.
“We have our eyes set firmly on the future here at Redland and how we can best serve our growing community,” Mr Junge said.
“Not only do they have access to first-class facilities and surgical equipment, but they’ll have access to it in their own backyard, removing any need to travel for treatment.”
In addition to the enhanced endoscopic capabilities, Mater Private Hospital Redland has also been able to purchase infrared goggles to assist in the assessment of vertigo, dizziness and balance problems, a new non-invasive technology designed to monitor lymphedema, as well as new equipment for the facility’s rehabilitation gym.
None of this would have been possible without Mater Foundation’s generous community supporters throwing their weight behind Giving Day, which is being held again next Thursday 26 June, with all donations tripled!
They make an enormous difference in the lives of others, with funds raised going towards purchasing more life-changing equipment across Mater’s statewide network, including a scalp cooling machine for Mater Private Hospital Redland.
The innovative technology essentially cools the scalp through a cap, which helps to prevent hair loss during chemotherapy. Mater Foundation Chief Executive Andrew Thomas said he has no doubt the community supporters will once again step up, and ensure Mater Private Hospital Redland continues to deliver premier healthcare in the bayside.
“Our Matched Donors are simply unbelievable, going above and beyond, year after year to care for their neighbours – our patients - at Mater Private Hospital Redland,” Mr Thomas said.
“And in a huge display of generosity, as donations made this Giving Day will be tripled thanks to our generous philanthropic matching partners – every donation will have three times the impact!”
Donations can be made online at www.mater.org.au/givingday until 26 June.
