Gold coast first baby

The newly opened Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast has celebrated a major milestone – welcoming its first baby.

Born at 9.16pm on Sunday, little Dusty Hall weighed in at 4.36kg, with mum Ali Mulligan and dad Harry Hall calling the historic birth a special moment for their growing family.

“We came here because it felt like the right place for our family and from the moment we walked in the midwives and medical staff just took care of everything,” Ms Mulligan said.

“Holding him for the first time, knowing he’s the first Mater baby on the Gold Coast – it’s something we’ll be telling him about for the rest of his life.”

The healthcare giant officially opened its doors on the weekend, seven months after gaining exclusive rights to buy Gold Coast Private Hospital from receivers.

The proud parents from Page 1 of 2 Daisy Hill said they couldn’t take their eyes off tiny Dusty and were overjoyed to see their three-year-old, Nellia, stepping into her big sister role.

“Our little boy has a very proud big sister. It’s a really special day for our family,” Ms Mulligan said.

“We felt so looked after the whole way through... I never once felt like I was doing it alone.”
