Physiotherapists commonly attend women who have had major gynaecological surgery or investigations to assist with mobilisation and to provide education and advice.

• Bladder and bowel health
• Pelvic floor health 
• Abdominal muscle strength 
• Discussion of support garments 
• Return-to-exercise advice 
• Back care and postural advice

Occasionally, patients will require Physiotherapy to attend chest or back problems associated with their admission. Physiotherapists also commonly see maternity inpatients, although not everyone giving birth requires this kind of support.
