Epilepsy, including complex drug refractory epilepsies and first seizure assessment, headache conditions such as migraines (including use of advanced therapies such as monoclonal antibodies and Botulinum toxin), Parkinson’s disease and tremor.

Biography

Dr Arash Kahrom is a neurologist specialising in epilepsy and headache conditions.

After obtaining his fellowship in neurology from the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP), he pursued advanced training in epilepsy at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Alfred Hospital, two of Australia’s leading epilepsy centres. There, he gained expertise in assessment and management of complex epilepsy, including the use of advanced imaging, intracranial EEG, and prolonged EEG monitoring.

Dr Kahrom also has a strong focus on managing complex headaches utilising treatments such as botulinum toxin A (Botox) and Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) monoclonal antibodies. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in stroke at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, providing him with expertise in acute and long-term stroke management, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), and stroke prevention.

Dr Kahrom holds an academic position at the University of Queensland and practices both in public and private settings at Mater South Brisbane. He is involved in educating epilepsy fellows, neurology and medical trainees, and medical students. As a consultant at the Epilepsy Unit at Mater Public South Brisbane. he participates in ongoing research as a member of the Mater Epilepsy Unit Research Group.
