Update—8 August 2020

Mater Private Hospital Springfield wishes to reassure the community that we continue to operate as usual. No surgeries or appointments have been cancelled at this stage.

Your health and wellbeing continues to be our number one priority and we have implemented some additional measures in line with social distancing requirements to ensure your safety during this period. This includes:

  • restricting access to the hospitals by limiting the number of visitors and introducing routine health screen at all of our entry points
  • collecting visitor details and ensuring visitors sign in and out of the hospital
  • social distancing measures throughout common areas
  • regular wipe-downs of common touch-points
  • availability of hand sanitiser for all patients upon arrival and during their time on-site
  • and appropriate protective equipment for our clinical staff.

A new era in healthcare for Greater Springfield

Mater's newest facility, Mater Private Hospital Springfield, opened its doors to the people of Greater Springfield in 2015. With 80 private beds as well as a day surgery unit, the hospital provides the local community with access to innovative, world-class healthcare facilities including four digitally-integrated operating theatres and a state-of-the-art cancer care centre.

Please note Mater Private Hospital Springfield currently does not have an Emergency Department.

Visiting hours

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients, all Mater hospitals have placed restrictions on visitors to minimise the exposure risk to COVID-19.

As a result of new restrictions, Mater will immediately limit visitor access to hospitals in South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland.

In line with advice from the Chief Health Officer, Mater will only permit people to visit someone in hospital if they are;

  • the parents, guardians or carers for a patient under the age of 18,
  • providing end-of-life support, and/or
  • a partner and/or support person for a patient admitted for care related to their pregnancy

Further details of the current hospital visitor arrangements for the Greater Brisbane area is available at the Queensland Health website.

It is imperative that Mater support this important community health initiative and all hospital entry points will be staffed to ensure compliance with this measure.

To view our other visiting restrictions, please visit our web page for patients.

Mater will aim to resume normal visiting arrangements as soon as possible.
