Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive back pay?
If the ballot is successful, Health Professionals will receive back pay from the first full pay period after 1 September 2025.
Mater has committed to paying back pay shortly after a successful YES vote, rather than waiting for the agreement to be formally approved by the Fair Work Commission, which can take several weeks or months.
What is a Consultative Committee?
Mater is proposing the establishment of a Health Professionals Consultative Committee, which will bring together employee representatives, union representatives and management.
The committee will provide a formal forum to:
raise workplace issues
discuss matters affecting Health Professionals
strengthen collaboration between staff, unions and management.
Is this wage increases the same as Mater Medical Officers?
Yes. The proposed wage increases, 3 per cent in year one and 2.5 per cent in year two, are the same increases recently provided to Mater Medical Officers.
Are the wage increases calculated from our current wages which are higher than those listed in the current agreement?
Yes. As you are aware, wages rates in the current enterprise agreement are not reflective of your current rates of pay. This is due to an administrative uplift of wages Mater provided in January 2025. Wage increases in the proposed agreement (3% in year 1 and 2.5% in year 2) are based on your current rates of pay, not the rates of pay in the current agreement.
To compare your current rate of pay against the proposed increases please refer to the wage table.
