Biography

Dr Joe Li is an ophthalmologist in Mackay. He offers a comprehensive ophthalmic service as well as subspecialty oculoplastics service. 

Dr Li studied medicine at the University of Sydney where he also completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine.  He undertook his general ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital. In 2016-17 he completed the world-renowned Oculoplastic and Orbital Fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he trained in reconstructive surgery of the eyelid, tear duct and eye socket.  

Dr Li offers the following services:

• cataract surgery, using the latest diagnostic technology to achieve exceptional refractive outcome and advanced intraocular lenses including multifocal and enhanced depth-of-focus lenses to achieve maximise independence from spectacles
• medical retina, such as intravitreal injections for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and vein occlusion
• oculoplastic surgery, including tumour excision and reconstruction, surgery to correct droopy eyelids (ptosis and blepharoplasty), inturned and out-turned eyelids (ectropion and entropion), and tear duct blockage
• glaucoma care, including laser treatment and surgical treatment including implantation of microstents to lower intraocular pressure
• general ophthalmic care.

Dr Li is known for his friendly personality and care for his patients. He proudly calls Mackay home and enjoys offering his services to the community of Central Queensland.
