Mater Pathology has been operating a high-quality service to the South East Queensland community for over 100 Years. Established by the Sisters of Mercy, our organisation ensures that patients have access to the most innovative and complete pathology testing available.

For your convenience we accept request forms from all Pathology Providers so regardless of the form you have, you can visit us.

We are 100% Queensland owned and operated and the largest private not-for-profit Pathology provider in the state. Any profit Mater Pathology make from testing is reinvested into the services Mater have provided to the community since 1906.

Mater Pathology is heavily involved in advancing pathology testing to improve care through our comprehensive clinical trials and research capability. We operate a fully accredited facility meeting all the legislative and regulatory requirements of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (RCPA) and the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional and technical excellence.

Pre-Elective Procedure COVID-19 Testing

If you are booked at a Queensland hospital for any procedure, you may be asked to undertake a COVID test 72 hours prior to attendance.

Follow the steps outlined below to ensure your results will be available on time:

  1. Discuss with your referring doctor the date and time of your procedure
  2. Ring the Mater Pathology Call Centre on (07) 3163 8500 for a booking
  3. Tell the operator of the date and time of procedure;
  4. Select a site for COVID collection at one of our collection centres from the list below
  5. You will be booked at our site and the collector will know you are coming
  6. Take the test
  7. Your sample will be returned to the laboratory for testing
  8. We state that you will receive your result via SMS directly to you within 72 hours
  9. Take that evidence to the hospital on the day of your procedure
