Biography

Dr Heshani Mediwake is a haematologist with interests in lymphoma, leukaemia, myelodysplasia, myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and non-malignant haematology.

Dr Heshani Mediwake graduated from the university of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2008. She completed her basic physician training at Toowoomba base and Princess Alexandra hospitals and undertook dual training in clinical and laboratory haematology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane from 2015 to 2018. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). In 2019 she undertook a clinical and research fellowship in haematology and bone marrow transplant at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

She is also a Staff Specialist at The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Mater Hospital South Brisbane and a senior lecturer at University of Queensland.

Dr. Heshani Mediwake has a keen interest in research and has published in the areas of lymphoma, thrombosis and allogeneic stem cell transplant in both local and international Journals.

She is currently available at Mater Cancer Care Centre, South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland.
